Fighting at the top

BMW ORACLE Racing and RC 44 Challenge finished the first day of fleet racing at the RC 44 Austria Cup at the top of the table. The pair are on equal points, with BMW ORACLE Racing getting the nod on the leaderboard by virtue of having won a race. The best finish for RC 44 Challenge was a second place.

It was a difficult day for racing, with shifty winds ranging from 5 to 12 knots. RC 44 Challenge was the only boat in the fleet to finish among the top five in all four races on Sunday.

"I find it awesome to sail on this lake, it is beautiful but also very interesting," said Jimmy Spithill - the grinder!! - on RC 44 Challenge after racing. "The strategy is very different, we need to play with the land effects and John Kostecki did a good job at putting us in the right place."
