Stuck in the middle

A friend has called in from what he estimates to be the middle of the race course. The wind that was at the top of the course earlier has eased.

He estimates no more than a couple of knots for as far as he can see in all directions, so it looks like we'll be waiting a while longer.

Postponement continues

It's still light in the start area. Here, a shot from GMR, from a few minutes ago.

Postponed

This is the view of USA on the race course at 10:20 local time, courtesy of the live feed from the Host Broadcaster.

The wind is still very light in the start area. At the windward mark, the breeze is near 7 knots.

Still light - still postponed

Reports off the race course have the wind at less than 2 knots at the starting area, generally from a southwesterly direction.

At the top mark, the wind is up to nearly 8 knots.

Let's hope that wind filters down.

Race One under postponement

Principal Race Officer Harold Bennett has postponed the start, due to very light and shifty winds.

Very light approaching start time

First pictures are streaming back from the race course now and it's very, very light.

The start line is about 27 miles offshore, which means it will be difficult to get photos back. As soon as we have them, we'll post them.

In the meantime, check out the live video streaming on the main website here.

Docking out

Skipper James Spithill speaks to the media ahead moments before getting on board.
